OPEN CALL - Auditions for children's roles in The Music Man
CYPA is holding an open call for 5th and 6th grade students to fill the children's roles in The Music Man. The show runs April 22-24 and rehearsals begin in January. We are looking to fill the roles of Amaryllis, Winthrop Paroo, and Gracie Shinn (two girls, one boy). Girls will audition for Amaryllis and boys will audition for Winthrop. Gracie will be cast from the Amaryllis auditions.
AMARYLLIS - is a young girl, a piano student of Marian Paroo. She is a bit of a busy-body and may have a little crush on Winthrop. It would be great if our Amaryllis could play piano, at least at a beginner level, but it is not a requirement.
WINTHROP - is a young boy, brother of Marian and son of Mrs. Paroo. In the beginning of the show he is reluctant to speak because of a lisp but has some nice character development throughout as he comes out of his shell. Voice should be UNCHANGED (and not likely to change before April 24!)
AUDITION
Audition will be by video submission. Each student should submit two audition videos as follows:
1. reading of 'monologue'

WINTHROP MONOLOGUE (click to download)
2. singing vocal excerpt (materials below)

MAKING YOUR VIDEOS
Try to avoid uploading UHD (4K) video. Make videos 1080p or 720p.
Monologue - record the monologue in character as much as possible. Record the video full body.
Singing - make sure the audio is decent. The backing track should be in background. Record the video full body.
ALL VIDEOS ARE DUE BY Monday, January 10 at 7:00 PM. We will try to send notifications by Wed. evening, Jan. 12 in hopes that students cast can join us for rehearsal on Jan. 13.
Rehearsals will be after school at the High School. All students applying should have their own transportation from their school to the high school. Rehearsals will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 5:00 PM to start. Children will not be called for every rehearsal - only those in which their roles are involved. All students applying must be available for Dress and Tech Rehearsals the two week prior to the show as well (April 11-14; 4:00-6:00 PM, April 18-21, 6:00-9:30 PM).
