Welcome to Thespian Troupe #1649
What is Thespian Society?
The International Thespian Society is an honor society for theatre arts students that recognizes and rewards excellence among the participants in the theatre arts program. Induction into the International Thespian Society is an honorable achievement and is awarded after the inductee earns 10 thespian points.
The International Thespian Society (ITS), founded in 1929, is an honorary organization for high school and middle school theatre students located at more than 4,900 affiliated secondary schools across America and abroad. The mission of ITS is to honor student achievement in the theatre arts. High school inductees are known as Thespians and junior high/middle school inductees are known as Junior Thespians. ITS is a division of the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA).
Why Join Thespian Society?
You are joining more than TWO MILLION students who have been honored for excellence in theatre since 1929! Thespians are also eligible to compete in festivals and for scholarship money on state and national levels. (This looks great to colleges!) All thespian members are recognized at graduation with a seal, medallion, or pin. If accepted into the International Thespian Society, you will receive a one-year subscription to Dramatics magazine, which includes articles about career planning, colleges, and summer opportunities in the performing arts!
